Frankie Fontana
Frank Fontana Memorial Award

Frank Fontana was an outstanding athlete who excelled in both football and basketball.

In 1981, Frank captained the St. Pius X High School football team to a State Championship.

He was also selected to the all-Northland team that year. In basketball, he captained the Warriors' squad.

Frank Fontana Memorial Award

The Frank Fontana Memorial Award was established in 1999 in honor of Frank Fontana. It is presented annually to the outstanding high school football player in the Kansas City metropolitan area's smaller class category (Missouri Classes 1-4, Kansas Classes 1A-4A).

If the metro area high school football coaches and media nominate a small-class athlete for the Simone Memorial Award, that athlete cannot also be a finalist for the Fontana Award. No player may win the Simone and Fontana Award in the same season.
