The Simone-Fontana Foundation
It was
1983 when Victor Fontana gathered some friends and planned a charity golf
tournament in memory of Tommy Simone, the oldest son of his good friend, Anthony
Simone.
Who
would have known when they teed it up at Stayton Meadows that all these years
later they would have accomplished so much? Through the hard work and generosity
of so many, the Simone-Fontana Foundation has been able to permanently endow two
annual scholarships at Rockhurst High School, gifted more than $500,000 to
Children's Mercy Hospital and contributed more than $1,000,000 overall to local
charities and schools. The Simone-Fontana Foundation is especially proud of
accomplishing all of this without the benefit of a single paid employee.
Through continued golf tournaments, poker tournaments and other fundraisers, the
Simone-Fontana Foundation continues to make annual contributions to our many
charities. We have also continued our tradition of donating $1,000 to the school
of the Simone Award winner. In 2006, with the generous support of our many
sponsors, we expanded that program to present $1,000 checks to the school of the
winner of the Simone, Fontana, Buchanan and Bell Awards.
